RPM Events are the only provider of drift events on the Isle of Man. Their 2024 calendar is included below.

The “Drag and Drift” days have the airfield used by drag racers and Drifters which means Drifting is limited to the School/practice course. The “Drift Day” events have access to the full airfield and several layouts are available to drift.

Passenger rides are available for those new to drifting. Bring a full-face helmet and £15. If you find a car you’re interested in, ask the driver about riding along.

For experienced drivers, on special drift days, you can use larger parts of the airfield for advanced techniques, more technical course involving higher speeds and changes in speed.

Choose a rear-wheel-drive (RWD) car with a manual transmission for better control. A limited-slip differential (LSD) is ideal, or you can weld an open differential (not recommended for road use). Bring at least two pairs of wheels for your first drift day.

Ensure your battery and seatbelts/harnesses are secure, and your vehicle is in good condition (no leaks, firm brake pedal, secure steering wheel). Roll-over protection (roll bar) is required for convertibles like the Mazda MX5.

Wear a helmet (motorbike or track day helmets are fine) and long sleeves and trousers.

Popular beginner cars include BMW E36/E46, Lexus IS200, and Mazda MX5 (with a roll bar). Stiffen your suspension and lower your car for better handling.

Start simple, focus on learning the skill, and upgrade your car as you progress. The best mod is seat time!
